Conquering The Beast, The Scott Mendes Story

GENRE:  Bio-Pic Feature

LOG LINE:  Based on the true story of Scott Mendes, champion bull rider.

SYNOPSIS:  Growing up on a Nevada ranch, Scott started on his path toward rodeo fame at a young age, on the back of an unruly wooly (sheep). Encouraged by his bull riding grand father and part time rodeo star/full time rancher father, he learns early the skills and resolve necessary to make it to the top, unfortunately his mother/want-to-be singer mother never fails to bring in the element of surprise to his evolving troubling life.

Hardly out of his training saddle, Scott’s mother and father separate, which leads to an eventual nasty divorce. This brings on years of travel between locations, Nevada and Texas, as well as confusion with attempts to make sense of his upside down existence. Years pass, pain grows along with deep anger. This plays out in a breakdown and extended hospital stay.  Approaching eighteen, Scott achieves bull riding success on his schools rodeo team and despite his mother’s issues, he strives toward future world fame.  With his senior year over, he heads out on the bull riding tour on his own, vowing to avoid his mother and her issues.

Life happens with more time passing leading to an eventual championship belt buckle.  With success also comes poor lifestyle choices, perhaps the result of weak parenting. Eventually he meets and marries his future wife and discovers a personal relationship with Christ.

An amazing story.
